Rock Walls

I love brick, rock, or stone backgrounds.  Today after my sons cub scout meeting we waited by the middle school for my middle schooler to get back from a football game.  I took that opportunity to test out the exposure button I found on my camera!!

The first one I wasn’t happy with once I got home.  His face is too blurry and no matter what I did in edits, I couldn’t make it look crisp.

Notice he’s sweaty.  That’s from the 90 degree temps with humidity out the ying-yang and playing outside.

I LOVE this photo.  I love how crisp it is and just love anything with my baby in it.  Good thing he likes to have his picture taken.  Anyways, I noticed that my photos come out a lot cleaner and crisp when I get up close before I snap the photo.  I imagine it is from quality of camera, but I’m still going to try to learn how to take a full length photo without the blur!

My Camera

Right now I have a camera that isn’t to be desired.  It’s a Canon powershot 4x optical zoom, 12.1 mega pixels.  I mean, it’s a perfectly good at home, snapping pics of the family good camera.  But trying to actually plan and take a exceptional photo is very hard.

It does take great macro photos.  When I found the macro settings I was shocked at the difference in the photos I took.  It has become one of my favorite things to do.

Last night I decided to through caution in the wind and play with my camera settings.  I couldn’t believe my eyes that on my little 100 dollar camera I can change the exposure, white balance, and ISO.  I’m shocked really!  Now, truth be told, I don’t really know what to do with those to make a photo better or worse, but heck, I have the option now!  I started doing a lot of research on the “exposure triangle” (aperture, ISO, and  shutter speed).  Wow, I have so much to learn, but anyone that knows me knows when I want to learn something new I usually end up knowing anything humanly possible on it.

Fix it Friday

I joined Fix it Friday at I heart Faces.

Here is the orignial photo.

Here are the two that I did on picnik

I wish I had a layering tool for the sky, but I still like how they turned out.  Cute guy, awesome truck!

I got a wild hair up my butt and told Emily, my daughter, to grab her guitar(that she never learned to use) and come outside.  She groaned, knowing what was ahead.  I laughed deep and evil and said do it anyways!   Ok, maybe I exaggrated.  I don’t have a deep laugh.

In between pouts this is the photo I got.

This is after edits.  I am pretty happy with it other than her nose is almost invisible and I couldn’t figure out how to fix it without effecting the whole photo.

Again, tell me what you think?

Sunny Day

I’m trying to get familiar with my camera, lighting, and editing so this is what I did today.

Here is the original

This is the black and white editing I did.

What do you think about it?

Hello

Hi everyone.  I’m working on getting this blog organized and read to start posting.  I am a beginner photographer and would love to one day have my own business.  I hope hearing feedback on the photos I post with help with that!
